Hill Partnerships Selected For Regeneration Work

The regeneration of New Union Wharf estate on the Isle of Dogs is now moving into the next stage, following the appointment of East Thames’ development partner, Hill Partnerships.

Hill Partnerships has been selected by East Thames, with input from estate residents, to carry out the regeneration work, which will replace the 1970s, built estate with modern, energy efficient homes that make the most of the estate’s riverside location.

The scheme, which received planning approval in January, will feature 399 new homes ranging from one to four bedrooms which will be available for social rent, shared ownership, and outright sale. The homes all feature spacious outdoor areas including winter gardens and balconies, and will be constructed to East Thames’ high specification standards with modern energy saving features.

Hill Partnerships was selected with the help of four nominated estate residents who were impressed by the flexible attitude of Hill Partnership staff and their commitment to minimising the impact on residents, many of whom will continue to live on the estate throughout the regeneration work.

Steve Eccles, East Thames' project manager for the regeneration of New Union Wharf, said: "We're very much looking forward to working with Hill Partnerships on this exciting regeneration project and we’re thrilled that this appointment has the full support of the estate’s residents who were so actively involved in the selection process."

Demolition works at New Union Wharf will start this summer with the first new homes due to complete in early 2015.
