EC Harris Appoints New Rail Sector Lead

EC Harris has appointed Mark Cowlard as a Partner and new head of its Rail Sector team. Mark joins EC Harris from Atkins where he was the Managing Director of its Rail Solutions business.

Mark will be responsible for growing EC Harris’s revenues in the rail sector, with a particular focus on the UK, Asia and the Middle East. His arrival represents another significant investment for EC Harris in the rail sector following the recent appointment of Richard Bowker as senior advisor earlier this year.

During his 10 years at Atkins Mark worked as the Group Commercial Director for the rail business and held various business leadership roles before becoming Managing Director of Rail Solutions in 2010 where his clients included Network Rail, Transport for London, the DFT, contractors and train operating companies. During his time as managing director Mark led the significant growth of the design business, developed an industry specific MSc addressing a critical industry skills shortage, and developed a global rail design centre in India. Prior to this Mark held senior development management and supply chain roles at the Dixons Stores Group and the Mobil Oil Company.

He will be a huge asset to us as we help our clients to deliver the many critical, yet complex, rail projects that are currently in the pipeline.”
