Balfour Beatty Joins Launch Of 'Creating Britain's Future' Campaign

Balfour Beatty joined an effort to boost recognition of the role played by the construction industry in boosting the economy as part of the Creating Britain's Future campaign this week.

'Creating Britain's Future' is a campaign from the UK Contractors Group to make the case for greater investment in infrastructure and that construction drives growth.

In Leeds, an audience of leading contractors, suppliers and guests from the public sector, heard from local authority leaders who are committed to finding ways to develop their local economies through investment in infrastructure.

Research from the UKCG has found that investment in construction is one of the most effective ways to stimulate the economy, generating local jobs and kick-starting growth. Construction is a jobs creator and employs 3.1 million people, or 10.5% of the UK workforce.

Gordon Brockington, Market Development Director for Balfour Beatty's UK Construction business, said: "We know what the UK construction industry can offer in terms of the benefits it provides to the UK economy with every £1 of investment in construction generating nearly three times that amount in economic benefit.

"We are very proud of the part Balfour Beatty plays in creating that growth and improving our infrastructure is a sure fire way to recover the UK economy."
