Bromley Museum Plans Take A Step Forward
Plans to improve Bromley Museum have taken a step forward with the appointment of specialist conservation architects and design team.
Caroe Architecture Ltd has been appointed to create detailed designs and a conservation management plan to support the second stage application for grant funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
Known as the Priory Revisited, the scheme would allow for an extension of the museum and create an arts and heritage hub at the historically important site. The news follows the successful appointment of a local consultative panel to support the project and the start of official consultation at the museum.
"We are excited to see the project moving ahead towards transforming the museum into an arts and heritage destination of choice with the architects starting work. This coincides with the start of our consultation to find out more about our users and ensure we encourage more visitors to enjoy the borough’s rich heritage. To have your say about what’s important to you for the future of your museum why not log on to our website,” said Councillor Peter Morgan, Executive Councillor for Renewal and Recreation.
The Learning and Participation Consultative Panel were appointed last month to ensure that the community is engaged with the plans for the future of the museum. The specialist panel of ten local people were chosen to help the museum improve and ensure more people access the museum and its collections. They champion community interest in the museum and assist with plans to conserve the Priory and to improve the museum offer with new and innovate opportunities for learning and participation. To make sure that the museum caters to the community they are consulting with specific audience groups to get their feedback on learning and participation opportunities at the museum.
