Morgan Sindall Completes £17.9m Leisure Centre Project

Morgan Sindall has completed work on a major project to construct a £17.9 million leisure centre, Splashpoint Leisure Centre, situated on Worthing's seafront.

The project for Adur & Worthing Councils involved the replacement of the town's existing 1960s Aquarena and the construction of a striking new centre, which overlooks the sea.

The new building includes a six lane 25m competition pool and a learner and diving pool, an indoor leisure pool with flume and play facilities, an outdoor paddling pool, a health and fitness centre, café and studio space.

Paul Yallop, leader of Worthing Borough Council, said: "I am so pleased to see this stunning leisure facility delivered on time and within budget. We are grateful to every member of the team, which has delivered this wonderful asset for Worthing residents and visitors. It has been a pleasure to work with the Morgan Sindall team who have always gone the extra mile to involve our community in the project."

Designed by award-winning architects, Wilkinson Eyre, the building's design complements and enhances this important location on the seafront.

Around 100 companies from the local area were employed on the project by Morgan Sindall during the construction process. Kingsley roofing worked closely with the architects to design and install the stunning copper roof.

The project, which was managed by Deloitte Real Estate, boasts an impressive range of green credentials. Movable floors, which act as a pool cover when raised, will maintain water temperature and minimise heat losses in the pools.

The complex also features a ground source heat pump, which will use renewable energy to heat and cool the building. In addition, the pools have regenerative filters, which will create savings of 6,000m3 of water per year, while recycled water will be used to flush the toilets.
