Shropshire Wildlife Trust took receipt of a cheque for £210 from local renewable energy company Go Green Systems Ltd of Shrewsbury.
The money comes from an arrangement set up with Go Green Systems who installed photo voltaic cells at the Trust's HQ eighteen months ago.
It's hoped the cells will pay for themselves in around 10 years but in the meantime, in return for displaying promotional material at Abbey Foregate, the Trust receives a modest 2.5% commission on each sale that results from it.
Trust President Veronica Cossons was on hand to receive the cheque from Thomas Smith, Director and Jonathan Bareham, Operations Manager.
Being a renewable energy company Go Green Systems are concerned about the energy crisis and the effect that modern life can have on the countryside and the wildlife that lives there.
Mr Smith said: "We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the United Kingdom, if we can help Shropshire Wildlife Trust then in turn we will be helping protect the environment for generations to come."
Shropshire Wildlife Trust protects wildlife where you live and they are the county's leading environmental charity, supported by 10,500 members. With strength of numbers and over 50 years of experience behind them they will be an increasingly effective champion for local wildlife. www.gogreensystems.co.uk
