Chris Allot, Contracts Manager at Caddick Construction, commented: "It's great at last to see the steelwork going up and the development coming out of the ground with the investment finally taking shape. We have been able to get a lot of the external ground works completed during the good weather and hopefully this will continue.

"The project in York is well under way with the delivery of the steel frames; this is a crucial and monumental stage of the building process. We have 80 tonnes of steel work and purlins which will be used in the initial construction of the buildings framework. The erection of the steel frame will be completed within a 3 week period."

Construction of the new fire station is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2014.
