Miller Construction has strengthened its senior management teams with the appointment of three new Directors within its South East and Scotland regional business units.
Steve Cresswell has been appointed as Area Director in the South East region with specific responsibility for the Improvement and Efficiency South East [iESE] framework and other selected clients.
Steve previously worked with Morgan Sindall Construction where he was latterly Area Manager for the South East, responsible for all projects in the region as well as overall operational strategy.
Steve started his career 22 years ago as an apprentice carpenter and has progressed through the ranks to become operations manager. Most recently he has overseen the delivery of a £20m contract to deliver new public swimming pools in Worthing, as well as various school and college projects via the iESE framework.
In the Scotland region, Scott Alexander has been appointed as Area Director. Scott joins Miller from Morrison Construction where he was Commercial Director. Prior to this he was Managing Director at Marshall Construction and responsible for the day-to-day running of the company. In this role, Scott led the business to secure several framework opportunities, with clients including the University of Stirling, Scottish Power and the Scottish Agricultural College.
With a degree in Quantity Surveying and over 30 years' industry experience, Scott has gained a vast degree of experience in building and civil engineering within both public and private sectors and across a range of market sectors.
Also new to the Scotland business unit is Martin Smith, who takes on the role of Technical Director. Martin moved to Miller from Graham Construction where he most recently held the position of Framework Manager. In this role he successfully led a number of major design & build framework programmes throughout Scotland.
With a degree in Civil Engineering, Martin brings considerable experience with him to the role having worked on projects across a range of sectors throughout his time with Graham Construction and previously in his career with AMEC and Lilley Construction.
The appointments of Scott and Martin complement the previous regional appointments of Charlie Dunn, Regional Managing Director, and David Leishman, Commercial Director, at the end of 2012.
