Mansell Homes has commenced a £5.2 million scheme to deliver 44 homes for Birmingham City Council.

The Stockmans Close, Kings Norton scheme will comprise 44 properties in total in an area which Birmingham City Council has designated as a priority for regeneration. 20 of the homes will be available for rent with the remainder for sale. The scheme includes a mix of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses, with a small number of 2 bedroom flats.

Mansell Homes will invest in apprenticeships and job training for local people through provision of 102 weeks of paid training on the scheme, organised by a National Skills Academy qualified skills coordinator, with recruitment taking place through Birmingham City Council's Employment Access Team.

A recent start of works ceremony was attended by representatives from Birmingham City Council and Mansell Homes.

Councillor Steve Bedser, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing at Birmingham City Council, said: "Twenty of the new properties will be available for affordable rent and will provide a much needed boost to the availability of affordable rented accommodation within Kings Norton.

"The houses will showcase exceptional design, space standards and energy efficiency. The rented properties will achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 which will see residents benefit through reduced running costs and energy bills."
