Housing and Regeneration Minister, Carl Sargeant, has announced that four more schemes to improve communities in Anglesey and north Gwynedd will share £975,000 in regeneration funding.
Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd will receive £120,000 to provide significant environmental improvements to the Bro Seiont housing estate in Caernarfon. The scheme compliments investment in the housing stock under the Welsh Housing Quality Standards programme and follows discussions with local residents. The work includes improvements to the visual appearance of the area and street lighting upgrades.
£160,000 has been awarded to support the refurbishment of the Sail Loft Amlwch Port as part of a strategy to develop Amlwch Port as a tourist destination. The funding will be used to refurbish the Listed Sail Loft to create a modern café and restaurant.
Gwynedd and Ynys Mon Councils have been successful in bidding for £500,000 to continue with a programme of property and environment grants in town centres. The investment provides financial support for businesses to enhance their properties, improving the town centre environment and bringing additional residential accommodation above shops into use.
£195,000 has been approved to support the refurbishment of a derelict warehouse on Prince's Pier in Menai Bridge. Porth Menai will be developed into offices and a Heritage Centre presenting the story of the two Menai Bridges.
Mr Sargeant said: "These projects demonstrate the Welsh Government's commitment to supporting projects and local communities. It continues our investment in areas which need the most help."
