Green Army Scheme Gets The Go-Ahead
Developers behind the Home Park project have been given the green light for the Green Army's multi-million pound improvement scheme.
Plymouth County Council's planners have now issued the formal decision notice to Akkeron, which means that they are satisfied with the detail of the development proposals and associated issues around the construction.
The proposal was approved by the planning committee last month and it includes a 4,800-seat grandstand for the stadium, 14 shop/restaurant units, a 1,500 seat ice arena, a hotel, medical centre, cinema with 10-screens including IMAX screen and parking for 380 cars.
Council leader Tudor Evans said: "This decision notice is a key document which means we are satisfied with the detail of the application – but it is also a reminder that as a result of section 106 negotiations, there will be significant improvements to the park.
"This is a really important aspect for us. Not only does the city get incredible new facilities for Argyle, hundreds of new permanent and construction jobs, but one of our most important parks will also get improvements that will make it even better for people who like to walk in it or play in it."
The developers have also pledged to carry out environmental improvements to Central Park, including landscaping of Zoo Field, drainage, improvements to the existing football pitch on Cottage Field, and sports changing facilities.
