Works Progressing Well On A43 Corby Link Road Project

Works are progressing well on the £34m A43 Corby Link Road project, which is being delivered by Kier Services working as part of MGWSP.

The road is an all-new 6.5km dual carriageway, linking Corby and the A14, which will allow traffic to be taken away from villages along the A43 and Corby itself. Work began on site in June 2012.

The new link road will considerably enhance Northamptonshire's strategic infrastructure. It will be pivotal to economic development in the north of the county and will ensure that planned growth already taking place in Corby and Kettering is supported with excellent transport corridors that link through to the national networks.

The main bulk of the earthworks has been completed, with around 500,000cu m (around 1m tonnes) of earth being excavated and filled, to create cuttings and embankments along the length of the road.

Around 3.3km of the total length of 6.5km of dual carriageway has now been completed (apart from the wearing course) and around 11,600m of the associated drainage has been completed, out of the total length of 19,700m.

The project also includes three new over bridges, and works on this element of the project are well under way.
