NCHA Officially Opens Olympian Homes
Officials, developers and guests joined Nottingham Community Housing Association (NCHA) at the official opening of Olympian Homes at Olympian Way, Darley Dale, Derbyshire, a scheme that has transformed a derelict factory site.
Winter Olympian Ellie Koyander was on hand to assist with a tree planting ceremony to mark the occasion, and described the choice of street name as "inspirational".
The development of 33 homes consists of both affordable rent houses and flats, six shared ownership homes, and is now almost fully occupied. The scheme was funded by NCHA, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC). Building works were taken care of by Westleigh Developments, who have lots of experience of building in this area.
Derbyshire Dales District Council Leader Councillor Lewis Rose OBE explains why DDDC were in full support of this project: "Enabling affordable housing for local people remains the District Council’s number one priority and we are delighted to have invested into this scheme, using contributions from private sector developments.
"The District Council is grateful to Nottingham Community Housing Association and Westleigh Developments for their continued desire to provide new affordable homes in the Derbyshire Dales. This imaginative redevelopment of the former Cobb Slater site will play its part in tackling housing need in this area of the Dales."
