The Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) has announced the appointment of Alasdair Reisner as its new Chief Executive.
Mr Reisner is currently Director of External Affairs at CECA, and has worked for the organisation since 2008. He will take up the role on 1st April 2014.
During his time at CECA, Mr Reisner has led the organisation's communications and public affairs activities, championing the case for increased investment in the UK's national infrastructure. This included the publication earlier this year of the influential Securing our economy: The case for infrastructure report.
Mr Reisner has also had significant involvement in efforts to improve the wider industry, through the development of Construction 2025, the new industrial strategy for construction. Mr Reisner worked with colleagues from the Strategic Forum for Construction to help shape the final document and is now involved in its implementation. Prior to this he was a member of the Government Construction Strategy procurement and lean client working group.
Mr Reisner will take over from Mark Roper, who has led the national team since 2011.
Mr Roper is continuing as Director of CECA's growing Yorkshire & Humberside region, a role that he has held on a joint basis alongside his national responsibilities. He will also continue to chair the organisation’s executive management board, through which national and regional representatives work together to ensure that CECA continues to respond effectively to the changing needs of its members.
Commenting on Mr Reisner's appointment Mr Roper said: "I am delighted to be able to announce Alasdair’s appointment as the new Chief Executive at CECA National. Three years ago CECA embarked on a programme of transformation, and an integral part of this was to consider succession management for the leadership of our national business. We identified that Alasdair had tremendous potential to grow within our organisation and have put in place support to allow this development. Our business is now ready to face the challenges that lie ahead as the economy returns to growth."
