Morgan Sindall has secured a place on the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) design and build framework covering the East Midlands and Eastern England region.
The framework governs individual MOD construction projects valued up to £12 million. Overall, the framework is estimated to be worth between £100 million and £250 million over an initial four year period, with the option to extend by up to a further three years.
Morgan Sindall was one of five successful companies which attended a special ceremony in London yesterday to sign 'Partnering Charters', which set out a number of principles and behaviours that are intended to promote effective joint working.
The winners are:
• Henry Brothers (Magherafelt)
• Interserve Construction
• Mansell Construction Services
• Morgan Sindall
• Shepherd Construction
Andy Parker, Director of defence at Morgan Sindall, said: "We have a long track record of successfully delivering projects for the MOD and have a seasoned team that knows how to work well in a defence environment. It's about having the flexibility and responsiveness to help the military meet its operational needs, whether that's a new barracks, training facility or administrative building. We are of course delighted to have been appointed to this key framework. As an organisation, Morgan Sindall prides itself on performing well on frameworks whilst remaining focussed on understanding and meeting the customer's needs."
This framework is the first of seven Capital Works Frameworks that are being procured under the NGEC programme for the delivery of construction projects on the Defence Estate and is a major step forward in the NGEC programme. There are five other Regional Frameworks and one National Framework. It is expected that, in addition to supporting other requirements, the frameworks will be used to procure a significant proportion of work in support of military rebasing up to 2020.
When project requirements are identified as suitable for delivery through the framework, the five companies will be invited to engage in 'mini-competitions', tendering for design and build solutions.
The framework will be used for the majority of future UK Defence construction projects.
