Clegg Construction Scoop Top Honours At Industry Awards
Building contractor Clegg Construction is celebrating after a landmark development took top honours in prestigious regional industry awards.
The Nottingham-based contractor carried out construction work on behalf of developer Lowbridge (Derby) Ltd on the £4.7 million Friar Gate Square office development in Derby city centre.
The successfully completed first phase of the development and those behind it were recognised as the best Overall East Midlands Scheme and Team at the fourth annual fbe (forum for the built environment) regional awards.
David Knifton, business development manager at Clegg Construction, said: "It is exciting and rewarding to see the efforts of everyone involved in the Friar Gate Square development recognised by people across the industry.
"This is the first high quality speculative office development delivered in Derby city centre in the last 20 years so to be asked to carry out its construction was testament to our track record in delivering projects on this scale.
"Clegg Construction has been pleased to be involved in delivering a scheme which will deliver long-term economic and environmental benefits to the city."
The new building has been constructed to meet the latest and most demanding environmentally friendly and energy efficiency standards.
Clegg Construction was appointed by developer Lowbridge to carry out the first phase of Friar Gate Square which is part of the historic conservation area supported by regeneration funding.
The modern office development incorporates key environmentally friendly features including photovoltaic panels which will provide a significant amount of electricity recovery.
It has been built to meet the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) excellent rating.
