Planning Application Submitted To Build A Bridge In Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire County Council has submitted a planning application to build a bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians that would span over the eastern bypass.

In June 2013, the proposed Lincoln Eastern Bypass was finally granted planning permission and Lincolnshire County Council published Orders to purchase land required for the scheme, and to amend the existing road network. In the months that followed, a number of representations to these Orders were made from members of the public.

In response, Lincolnshire County Council has recently submitted a planning application to build a bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians that would span over the bypass.

The proposed bridge would link the two sides of Hawthorn Road, which is set to be 'stopped up' to all traffic on the western side of the bypass. On the eastern side a left in\out junction is provided for vehicles to access the bypass.

If planning permission is granted, the bridge will maintain an access route for local people to get in-and-out of the city without using their cars. It would add to the facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians that were provided in the original planning application for the eastern bypass.
