Manchester Residents Urged To Apply For Free Boilers And Insulation
Greater Manchester residents are being urged to banish the January blues and keep the chills away by applying for free boilers and insulation as part of an energy efficiency scheme.
Residents are being reminded that they may be able to cut their bills – with some able to save more than £300 a year by applying for a new boiler through the Get Me Toasty scheme, supported by councils across Greater Manchester. Others may be able to save £180 a year with loft insulation or £140 with cavity wall insulation.
Residents are encouraged to call the Greater Manchester Energy Advice Service on 0800 009 3363 or apply online at getmetoasty.com to see if their property is eligible.
Even if a property hasn't been suitable in the past, there may now be solutions available.
Some low income households with poor insulation and heating systems will be able to access free heating and insulation improvements.
Sir Richard Leese, leader of Manchester City Council and chairman of the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Hub, said: "Energy prices are rarely out of the news, with the big suppliers having recently increased their charges, and the cost of keeping warm is a serious concern for a lot of people across Greater Manchester.
"Having a new boiler or insulation installed for free will make a huge difference, and I’d urge anyone to visit the website and see if they're eligible for this free service."
Anyone who receives state pension credit, child tax credit, working tax credit or income based job seekers allowance could qualify for the free work.
