Carillion Appointed For Twin Tower Docklands Development
Carillion has been appointed by London mid-market residential specialist HUB Residential as the contractor for its landmark residential development, located at the entrance to London's Royal Victoria Docks.
Carillion was chosen after a competitive tendering process for the scheme which will provide 360 new mid-market homes for private sale on the 0.5-hectare site in the London Borough of Newham.
The site has been cleared and planning submitted for two towers, one of 23 and one of 24 storeys that have been designed by multi-award winning architectural practice CZWG Architects LLP, who have a wealth of experience in residential design in London's East End.
Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2014 on the mixture of one, two and three bedroom apartments, with completion earmarked for late 2016.
Carillion was selected as part of their wider growth in the London residential sphere, which saw them chosen for the first phase residential development at Battersea Power Station last year.
HUB Residential was incubated by Squarestone in late 2012 with the single-minded aim of bringing quality new homes to within reach of working Londoners, with a focus on design-led and community orientated schemes.
The scheme is expected to go to committee later this month, subject to acceptance work will start on site as soon as that happens.
John Rodaway, account director at Carillion said: "We are pleased to have been selected for this prestigious project and to be working with Hub Residential to help deliver their ambitious plans to develop new housing in London. This project will make an important contribution to the revitalisation of this area.
"Carillion's success in securing this contract underlines our growing strength in the capital's residential market, which includes our work at Battersea, Kings Cross and Bankside."
