Kier Begins work On School Development

Kier Construction has started on the first of its school developments under the Mayor of Liverpool's Liverpool Schools Investment Programme.

Holly Lodge Girls' College is one of 12 new hi-tech secondary, primary and special schools to be delivered under the scheme.

Mayor Joe Anderson attended the turf cutting ceremony alongside West Derby MP Stephen Twigg and Cllr Jane Corbett, the council’s cabinet member for education.

Holly Lodge Girls' College head teacher, Julia Tinsley, said: "We have been absolutely determined that this scheme addresses the issues while at the same time enhancing the wonderful campus on which the school is built, and maintaining the unique character of Holly Lodge."

The building is scheduled to open in February 2015.
