Lovell Installs 500 New Kitchens In West Lancashire
The major home makeover programme being carried out by housing refurbishment specialist Lovell for West Lancashire Borough Council has reached a milestone with the completion of the 500th new kitchen being installed.
Council representatives joined the Lovell team at the home of Mrs Doris Griffiths in Banks, West Lancashire, to celebrate. Mrs Griffiths was presented with a brand-new toaster and kettle by Lovell to complement her new-look kitchen – the 500th to be modernised by Lovell through the Council's scheme.
Mrs Griffiths, 71, is delighted by the transformation of the kitchen of her home at the Meols Court sheltered housing scheme at Banks, which is near Southport: "My new kitchen is gorgeous. I was able to choose from a number of different colours and styles and the team that did the work were all very good, I couldn't fault them at all. Because the kitchen was being refurbished, I decided to treat myself to a new gas hob and eye level oven and Lovell put that in for me too, as well as installing a new light fitting. The workmen were all polite, on time and let me know what would happen each day. The kitchen looks lovely and I'm made up with it."
Mrs Griffiths, who has lived at Meols Court for 10 years, organises the weekly Friends and Neighbours (FAN) club which meets at the sheltered housing complex every Friday.
Councillor Val Hopley, portfolio holder for Landlord Services, said: "Mrs Griffiths and other tenants are reaping the benefits of our Regenerating Homes Programme. The scheme will make a big difference to people's lives and assist us in our goal to become a top performing landlord by 2020."
Lovell regional director Nigel Yates added: "It's very pleasing to know that Mrs Griffiths is so happy with the work we've done in her home and we hope she continues to enjoy using her new kitchen. The refurbishment work we are doing for West Lancashire Borough Council is very much a collaboration between ourselves, the residents and the Council and it's thanks to this team approach that the programme is proving so successful."
