Bam To Build Office Block For Cornwall Council
Bam Construct is to build a significant new office block for Cornwall Council in Bodmin.
The contractor, which has a local office in Exeter, will create the three-storey building for council staff at Beacon Technology Park.
It is the first project Bam has won under the Cornwall Council framework, and together with private sector projects, takes the total value of the contractor’s work in the county above £30m.
The modern office block will allow the council to support a number of its services to work more effectively through co-location with each other. The new offices will be more efficient to run and manage than the range of older buildings which they replace.
Bam is targeting a DEC rating of five, with sustainability features to include photovoltaic cells on the roof and natural ventilation.
The company will look to use local suppliers where possible as well as working with local schools and offering apprenticeships.
The project is due to start on site in February, with completion scheduled for April 2015.
