Stewart Milne Scoops Over £14m In New Business

Stewart Milne Timber Systems has announced new business wins worth more than £14m, during a period of significant growth for the business.

The timber systems expert has also experienced a noteworthy year-on-year increase in quotations, up 50% on a 24-month rolling average in August and 30% in September.

New business for Stewart Milne Timber Systems came from across the UK, with notable wins in Devon, Cambridgeshire, Greenwich and Oxfordshire. These include a number of housing developments, one of which will deliver 5,000 zero carbon homes, a care home and a student accommodation project.

The company's growth has occurred in tandem with a rise in activity in the UK construction industry as it experiences an upturn in demand across both the housing and commercial building markets.

Alex Goodfellow, Group Managing Director at Stewart Milne Timber Systems, said it was unsurprising that more construction firms are turning to timber.

He said: "More and more developers are turning to timber frame for its versatility, cost effectiveness and energy efficiency.

"Timber frame can dramatically increase speed of build, making it an ideal choice for developers who need to increase their outputs quickly and ease cashflow. Using timer frame, developers are able to realise capital outlay on projects that are turned around quickly.

"Its inherent energy efficiency also makes it suitable for projects aiming to reach high sustainability targets, whether they are commercial or residential. With environmental standards for buildings set to rise soon, this is an important consideration for new developments."
