Lakesmere has secured a £5.5m contract to provide the full building envelope for a new state of the art data centre in Slough, Berkshire.
The building envelope specialist has been appointed by Laing O'Rourke's building services provider Crown House Technologies to work on the new LD6 building for global data centre company Equinix. As an addition to Equinix's existing site in Slough, the new data centre has been designed by leading architects Arup and boasts a stunning high specification design. The challenging contract will see teams from Lakesmere South and Lakesmere's Flat Roofing division working together to deliver the full envelope package in just 24 weeks.
With a striking 7000m2 footprint the new data centre will boast symmetrical east and west wings, which are connected by an internal link bridge and a front office section, in addition to a second bridge-link to a separate logistics building.
Lakesmere's scope of works will include the design and installation of 11000m2 of Trimo Qbiss composite panels and 1000m2 of Schüco FW50+ SG curtain walling for the external walls with translucent Kalwall cladding panels for the link bridges.
Lakesmere will commence work on site in May 2014.
