TCPA To Take On Co-Ordination Of Green Infrastructure Partnership

Britain's oldest environmental charity, the Town and Country Planning Association (TCPA), has announced that it will be taking on co-ordination of the Green Infrastructure Partnership (GIP), a network of over 320 organisations and individuals, from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

This unique cross-sector Partnership was established following the Natural Environment White Paper in October 2011 to enhance the development of green infrastructure in England.

Lord de Mauley, Environment Minister at Defra, who announced the handover at a GIP members' event in London, said: "It's great that the TCPA have taken the reins on this important initiative. The Green Infrastructure Partnership is a real success story and a great example of what can be achieved when like-minded people get together to work towards a shared goal.

"Integrating green infrastructure across the country is really important, it directly helps us strengthen economic growth and ecological networks, improves communities' health, quality of life and provides resilience to climate change."
