Wessex Galvanizers Builds On Solid Foundations
A leading galvanizing firm is building on solid foundations following its participation in the development of a multi-million pound luxury housing scheme under construction in the country's capital.
Eastleigh-based Wessex Galvanizers, part of Wedge Group Galvanizing, has joined forces with fellow Hampshire-based firm Bailey Fabrications to galvanize over 100 tonnes of steel for balcony frames at the new Prime Place residential development in Greenwich, which is scheduled for completion this Spring.
The two-acre development consists of 181 unique one, two and three bedroom apartments in a 10-storey building close to the Docklands Light Railway Station and Canary Wharf. The scheme is part of a wider regeneration project which will comprise of a student village, a boutique hotel, health and fitness club, and a number of start-up units to encourage business enterprise in the area.
Andy Gill, Director at Bailey Fabrications, explained: "It was a pleasure producing the frames for the new Prime Place development, which is set to provide much-need housing in London.
"We required the services of Wessex Galvanizers as it was necessary to protect the structure against rust and corrosion, and also ensure it’s aesthetically-pleasing for years to come."
Richard Whiddett, Sales Manager at Wessex Galvanizers, added: "This has been an excellent project to be involved in, and we were delighted to assist our long-standing client, Bailey Fabrications.
"The firm has done a brilliant job fabricating the balcony frames, and galvanizing the steel guarantees their longevity."
