Workspace Group PLC has secured further planning permission for the second phase of its mixed-use development in Wandsworth.
The site, located adjacent to the Filaments, is Workspace's current joint development with Mount Anvil, the specialist London residential developer, on Buckhold Road, SW18.
The project is a 20-storey tower, comprising of 77 apartments, 3,000 sq ft of retail and restaurant use, plus 15,000 sq ft of new business space. This second phase will bring Workspace's overall Business Centre at the location to 70,000 sq ft – space capable of housing more than 120 businesses.
The first phase of the Business Centre is expected to open in December 2014.
In a statement, Workspace said the repositioning of the site will contribute to the transformation of Wandsworth, which is seeing a number of developments currently being undertaken.
For this new Business Centre, it will become fully integrated into the local community, and will open new pedestrian routes through to the High Street, offering views over St George's Park.
Welcoming the announcement, Workspace CEO Jamie Hopkins, said: "We are delighted to announce another planning approval for the second phase of our mixed use scheme in Wandsworth. This development will not only benefit fast growing businesses, helping to mitigate the high demand for office space, but also the wider community.
"This development is at the centre of Wandsworth near the shopping centre and park, with excellent access to central London. This new state-of-the-art development will create a business centre, providing customers with more than just space, with well designed, tailored facilities and flexible leases.
"The redevelopment will also provide a significant boost to both the capital value and rental income of the site and demonstrates our ability to add significant value through asset management."
