Minister Presents Bristol Centre's Apprentice Of The Year Award
Bristol West MP Stephen Williams has visited the Carillion Training Centre in his constituency and congratulated the apprentices on their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm for learning and developing new skills. During the visit Mr Williams also presented Bristol Centre's Apprentice of the Year award to Rob Baldwin from Mangotsfield.
Studying his Level Three carpentry and joinery apprenticeship Rob Baldwin, 19, was awarded Bristol Centre's Apprentice of the Year for the achievements and progress he has made since he joined the apprenticeship scheme at Level One in 2011.
In recognition of his skills, Rob was selected to represent the Bristol Training Centre in the Carillion heats for the annual Skill Build competition. Due to his ability as a craftsman and his dedicated approach to learning, he was offered a Level Three apprenticeship in June 2013. Rob is a natural leader and continually sets an example to others in demonstrating the highest regard for health and safety.
Hilary Greener, Carillion Centre Manager said: "We are thrilled to be able to welcome Stephen Williams MP to the centre to meet our young enthusiastic apprentices and to see first hand the facilities and training we offer. In particular, Rob's award is a terrific achievement recognising the hard work and passion he has for completing his apprenticeship."
Stephen Williams MP commented: "With the skills shortage prevalent in the construction industry, it's even more important that companies drive apprenticeship programmes to provide the opportunity to equip individuals with valuable skills and training. I think that learning on the job from someone who really knows what they're doing is the best experience you can get. It certainly pleases me to be here today rewarding the efforts and determination of these young apprentices."
