The latest edition of the Northern Ireland Construction Bulletin has been published by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA)
Within the report the Construction Output Statistics provide a general measure of change in real terms in the output of the construction industry in Northern Ireland.
Key findings
include:
• The total volume of construction output in Northern Ireland in the first quarter of 2014 increased by 0.6% compared to Q4 2013.
• Over the quarter, there was no change in the volume of New Work but Repair & Maintenance increased by 2.0%.
• Other Work increased by 16.7% but Infrastructure and Housing fell by 14.7% and 0.3% respectively.
• When comparing Q1 2014 with Q1 2013 construction output decreased by 8.6%.
• In the last four quarters, the trend in Construction Output carried out in Northern Ireland has been mixed with increases in two quarters and decreases in the other two quarters. However, the scale of the decreases has been greater than the scale of the increases.
• In Q1 2014, Great Britain experienced positive growth with overall construction output increasing by 0.6% compared to the previous quarter.
• In Q1 2014, construction output in Northern Ireland was three-quarters (74%) of the average output reported for 2010. In the same quarter, overall construction output in Great Britain was at 97% of the average output for 2010.
