Work Starts On New Housing Development In Devonport
A new housing development in Devonport is underway.
Councillors and representatives from Linden Homes and DCH came together at a demolition event to mark the start of work on 'Emerge', a new housing development being created by Linden Homes and DCH.
The redevelopment marks the last significant phase of Linden Homes and DCH's work in the Devonport Development Framework following on from Evolve, which when complete this year, will have delivered 219 new homes overall, including 90 affordable homes.
Emerge will redevelop the Granby Green and Granby Street area in Devonport and will include the demolition of post war buildings and the creation of new homes within a refreshed street scene.
Nigel Palmer, managing director for Linden Homes, said: "It is a landmark day in terms of regeneration in Devonport. Emerge will breathe new life into the Granby Street area; providing 101 quality new one, two, three and four bedroom homes for the Devonport community, 36% of which will be affordable housing.
"We have received a lot of positive feedback; so many people are delighted the derelict buildings are going for good – the transformation is going to be fantastic."
