ISG To Develop Primary School In Bolton
ISG is to build a new primary school in Bolton.
The £2.4 million scheme has been procured through the North West Construction Hub (NWCH) for the Education Funding Agency (EFA).
The new school is to be developed on a vacated secondary school site which is available due to the amalgamation of three local schools into one new Academy.
The newly formed Essa Primary School will help address the urgent need for additional primary school places in Bolton. ISG has already completed an initial enabling project on site to carry out minor refurbishment works and service alterations, allowing the new primary school to offer a Reception, Year One and Year Two intake from the start of this academic year.
The main refurbishment project will commence in January 2015 and complete in time for the new school year in September, creating two-form entry accommodation from Reception through to Year Six. ISG will carry out a comprehensive refurbishment of the existing building, including the installation of new windows and extensive roof repairs. The building’s interior will be remodelled and new mechanical and electrical services installed throughout. The existing hall will be retained and upgraded, and ISG will create a new staffroom, office areas, kitchen and reception area.
Externally, ISG will install new perimeter fencing and deliver an extensive hard and soft landscaping scheme, including the creation of additional car parking provision and new outdoor play areas.
