Two Retirement Living Schemes In Chester Almost Complete
Two new retirement living schemes in Chester are nearing completion.
The multi-million pound projects, built by Your Housing Group, includes a total of 159 new extra care apartments for local people aged 55 years and over, and are available for affordable rent, shared ownership and outright sale.
Kingswood on Kingsway in Newton, Chester will have 82 one and two bedroom apartments on a 3.2 acre site on the site of the former Woodfield School. It is an £8.3m scheme with a £1.8m grant from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).
The Windings has 77 one and two bedroom apartment s over three and four floors on Cable Drive in Helsby, Chester. The £8.7m development has a £460,000 grant from the HCA.
The schemes, are being created through a partnership between Your Housing Group, Cheshire West and Chester Council and the HCA, and will be completed by the end of March. Both developments will include on site amenities including a bistro, hairdressers and beauty salon, all open for non-residents to use.
Kathy Cowell, Chair of Your Housing Group, said: "Together with Abbot's Wood, which opened last year, Kingswood and The Windings will complete the trio of retirement living villages we have provided for local people in Chester as part of our £150 million affordable homes programme. Your Housing Group is helping tackle the national older person’s housing crisis by providing 450 high quality new homes for the over 55s across the North West, making us one of the largest developers of extra care housing in the UK."
The schemes will be complete in March.
