Improvement Work To Start On Road Interchange In York

Improvement work is to start on a road interchange in York next month.

The Pinch Point scheme, on the A19 south of York, is supported through approximately £2 million Department for Transport funding, which City of York Council secured from a share of a £170 million Government Pinch Point Fund in 2013.

The £2m funding contributes towards the cost of the £4.7m overall project in this area which will help towards supporting local transport schemes that tackle congestion and support growth.

Phase one of the scheme will be split into sub-phases with the first starting week commencing 6th April for approximately four-weeks. This is expected to have minimal impact on traffic.

The advanced works include drainage, street lighting and some minor footpath works on the section between Lingcroft Lane and the southern roundabout.

The main works will start in early May. Overall the works are anticipated to take 20-weeks. The main works will also include the construction of a new inbound bus-lane between the two roundabouts which will link into the existing bus-lane on the A19 north of the junction. An extra traffic lane will be added on the approach to, and through, the Designer Outlet (southern) roundabout.
