EDF Energy Wins UK's Largest Electricity Contract

Crown Commercial Services has awarded EDF Energy the UK's largest electricity supply contract.

The renewal of the multi-billion pound four-year agreement will see EDF Energy continue to supply electricity to thousands of public buildings and sites across central and local government, including schools, the NHS, the Highways Agency and major cultural assets such as the National Gallery.

The contract covers around 8,000 sites, equivalent to 9.6 TWh of electricity a year or enough to power 2.3 million UK homes. It was awarded by the Crown Commercial Service, a Government agency which provides commercial and procurement services for Government departments and the UK public sector.

Vincent de Rivaz, CEO of EDF Energy, said: "Our employees are proud to be able to provide electricity for many of Britain's hospitals, schools and key public buildings. They can see a direct link between their hard work in power stations and the electricity used in their own communities and across the country.

"We are proud to again be awarded the contract to supply the public services that millions of people depend on every day. We are also committed to tackling climate change and helping our customers reduce their energy consumption. That is why we will offer our expertise to support the Government's drive for increased energy efficiency."
