14,000 Workers To Begin Working On Projects Worth £50m
Network Rail has announced 14,000 workers are to be begin working on schemes worth £50 million over the May Day bank holiday.
The scheduled schemes include new tracks and junctions for Crossrail services, a new bridge and tracks to be built on the London Liverpool Street line and also a junction upgrade outside Waterloo Station.
Tracks and signalling will also be upgraded for the £6.5bn Thameslink programme.
Mark Carne, Chief Executive of Network Rail, said: "Our improvement programme this bank holiday, delivered by a 14,000-strong army of rail workers, is focused on delivering a better service for passengers."
Network Rail has stated that 95% of rail services will be unaffected by the works.
