New £46m Library Complete
A new £46 million library at the University of Bedfordshire's campus has been completed.
A 'topping out' ceremony was held to mark the occasion on 3 June.
The 7,400 square metre site is the latest in a serious of investments by the university.
Facilities include silent-study rooms, group-work areas and presentation-practice rooms.
A ground floor café has also been installed.
The new building is located near the refurbished Business School and a modern student accommodation facility.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chancellor (VC) Bill Rammell said the occasion was a "momentous" day for the University.
He said: "We are dedicated to enhancing that experience and creating an environment in which all of our students can get the best out of their education.
"Seeing the new library progress over the past and coming months is a sign, not only of the growth of the build, but of the University itself."
The VC was joined at the ceremony by architects MosesCameronWilliams and contractors Willmott Dixon who worked on the project.
Director at MosesCameronArchitects, Colin Moses, said: "The construction of the new library is an exciting continuation of our successful relationship with both the University and the design team involved in the campus redevelopment."
Stephanie Hensman, Willmott Dixon, added: "We are delighted to be constructing this new University landmark and proud to be marking this milestone in its development."
Construction on the campus began in 2014.
A £25 million teaching and learning building project was completed on the University's campus in January.
