Minister Urges Councils To Release Brownfield Sites

Following a recent announcement by the Secretary of State, Greg Clark, that a Cabinet group will be tasked with selling off enough government owned land to build 150,000 homes, he is also urging councils to follow their lead with vacant brownfield sites, according to The Telegraph.

To help support this initiative there are innovative systems available to support the successful upgrade or renewal of wastewater systems.

Stanton Bonna Concrete Ltd is an expert in precast concrete products for the most challenging of these environments.

Stormwater Management has become a key issue which needs addressing with any new development in today’s climate. Some old drainage systems may not be able to cope with the increased capacity required for housing and the deluge of water experienced in recent years.

Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems have become integral to most developments to overcome some of the issues. Utilising precast concrete products has become part of this integrated approach especially where there are clay based soils or where ground is already saturated and needs guiding to a more manageable area.

Some solutions include precast concrete pipes or troughs for channelling, elliptical pipes help where there are shallow depths for attenuation and headwalls provide outfall control with safe and effective flow management.

If looking for a ‘NO DIG’ drainage solution under road, rail or housing the Jacking Pipe is a perfect system with minimal disruption. Each has a watertight joint and comes with a mild steel collar that can be altered to stainless steel on request.

Other innovative products include the Perfect Manhole System with the base precast offsite and a wider wall ring. This ensures a quick, safe, high quality installation with less waste. Backfill is sufficient to use around the product. It also complies with Sewers for Adoption 7.
