Interserve Announces Construction Date For Office Hub
Interserve has announced construction work will begin at its new offices in Birmingham in January 2016.
The company has been given planning permission to demolish an unoccupied four-storey office block at a site next to Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International Railway Station. It will be replaced with a modern and ecologically-sympathetic 12,000 square metre, five-story building.
The energy efficient building will bring together 1,200 staff who are currently spread across four offices in Erdington, Dudley, Redditch and West Bromwich, as well as RMD Kwikform's office in Aldridge.
Tim Haywood, Interserve's Group Finance Director and Head of Sustainability, said: "The new building is an opportunity to bring all our business divisions together in one place and we look forward to the project progressing on site in 2015.
"This new hub will be more cost effective than the less efficient buildings our people will be vacating. The co-location of staff will enable our operations and support functions to work better together, while the site's location close to major transport links will help us to reduce travel costs and emissions."
The office will be able to accommodate 1,600 employees and will also include underground and surface level car-parking for 450 vehicles.
The building has been designed by architects Sheppard Robson and will aim to achieve a BREEAM 'Excellent' rating. Construction work is expected to begin in January 2016, with enabling works currently underway. Completion of the project has been set for early 2018.
