Lagan Group company Whitemountain has been appointed by London Luton Airport (LLA) to deliver a £100 million redevelopment project.
The Northern Irish contractor is to manage the construction and civil engineering of landslide infrastructure and transport facilities.
Work is already underway and includes turning the existing approach road to the terminal building into a dual carriageway, redeveloping the short stay car packs and transforming the on-airport road network.
The set-down area is to also be remodelled and the coach terminal will be repositioned.
Other improvements include a newly created security search area on the ground floor, which was made operational on 8 September.
Further works involve improved rail services, better road access, and additional retail/dining space.
A new executive lounge is to also be created.
Overall, the £100 million project will increase the airports capacity from 12 million to 18 million passengers per year by 2026.
Nick Barton, CEO of LLA, said: "The appointment of Whitemountain shows we're making good progress on the development. The relocation of the security search area will make a positive difference to passengers. We've increased the size of this facility and introduced the latest technology which will allow us to speed up the screening procedures and minimising waiting times."
"John Donaghy, Commercial Manager, Whitemountain, added: "The development happening at London Luton is really exciting. There is a big ambition to transform the airport and we're very happy to be delivering works on landside infrastructure and transport facilities."
