Balfour Wins Accolades At British Construction Awards

Balfour Beatty has won four accolades at the 2015 British Construction Industry Awards.

The company was successful in four categories:

• The BIM Project Application Award for construction of the National Graphene Institute for the University of Manchester.

• The Product Design Innovation Award for the Crossrail Liverpool Street and Whitechapel Station Tunnels project.

• A Building Project of the Year Award for its construction of the Aloft Hotel in Liverpool.

In addition, the Connect Plus Services joint venture between Balfour, Atkins and Egis Road Operation also won the Temporary Works Award category for the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge expansion joint replacement.

Commenting on the National Graphene Institute BIM Award, Balfour's Design and BIM Programme Director, Peter Tribilcock, said: "We are delighted that the extensive application of BIM on this complex building project has been recognised.

"We believe this project and award stands as an exemplar of integration, coordination, supply chain engagement, direct links to off-site manufacturing and 'right first time execution'."

The 2015 British Construction Industry Awards were held at the Grosvenor Hotel in London.
