Carillion Submits Planning For £80m Regeneration Project
Carillion has submitted a planning application for an £80m regeneration project in Leeds.
The company has put forward proposals to redevelop the old industrial South Bank site of Tower Works in Holbeck.
The project has been designed by architects Jestico + Wiles, alongside landscape architects Oobe and engineers WSP.
The firm is set to deliver 90,000 sq ft of commercial office space, 24,000 sq ft of A1 and A3 retail restaurant and bar spaces.
A mix of one, two and three bed apartments/town houses will also be created.
In addition, the Grade II listed Engine House building will be converted into a cinema and boutique brewery, facing onto a new public square.
The site has been designed to provide ample public space, connecting the wider Holbeck to the canal, the new station entrance and Leeds City Centre.
Gareth Jackson, development director for Carillion said: "This planning application is the culmination of our work with the HCA, Leeds City Council and local stakeholders to ensure that Tower Works is a fitting and successful addition to the Leeds South Bank regeneration area."
Commercial agents Knight Frank and Sanderson Wetherall have been appointed alongside residential agents CRBE and Morgans, and retail and leisure agents Pudney Shuttleworth. England & Lyle are providing planning consultancy to the developer.
Construction works are expected to begin in Spring 2016.
