Bauer Technologies has been awarded a main piling works design and construct package on a mixed-use scheme in London.
The company was selected by main contractor Brookfield Multiplex to deliver piling works on the Principal Place Residential project.
The development is being taken forward by a joint venture (JV) between Brookfield Property Partners, Concord Pacific and W1 Developments.
The contract award follows on from successful completion of an Early Works package which involved the installation of 25 piles, 1200mm and 1500mm in diameter and over 50 metres deep in secant pile walls.
With an overall contract value of £5 million, including the Early Works package, main works will require Bauer's BG40 and BG30 piling rigs to develop 27 piles under bentonite and 1,350mm and 2,000mm in diameter for the main 50-storey residential tower.
In addition, 14 of these will be large section 'plunge' columns, while for smaller structures the company will install a total of 26 x 880mm rotary piles.
The adjacent 15-storey residential building will be founded on 26 x 900mm diameter 27 metre deep Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) bearing piles.
Martin Blower, Managing Director of BAUER Technologies, said: "This is an exciting and prestigious project for BAUER in the London Private Residential market.
"It requires us to construct piles to extremely tight tolerances in difficult ground conditions. The many challenges that the project presents also give us an ideal opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of BAUER and our newly developed 'on top' reaming tool."
The Principal Place Residential project began in July 2015 and is expected to be mostly substantially by 2019.
