Flood Defence Drop-In Session To Take Place In Devon

Construction News Image
A public drop-in session discussing flood defence upgrades is due to take place later this month in Devon.

The Environment Agency (EA) is inviting people to put forward their ideas for improving defences in Totnes before it submits designs for planning permission.

Proposals could include raising the existing walls and installing gates across existing slip ways, while individual property protection could be allocated in some locations.

The EA hopes to improve the existing flood defences in order to carry out the improvements in a cost effective way and minimise disruption during construction.

Dan Boswell, project manager for the EA, said: "The existing defences give us a great starting point as we don't need to come in and start from scratch which will mean our work should be less disruptive.

"We really want to see and hear from as many people as possible at the drop-in, as this will give us a really good idea of what people think of our designs before we submit them for planning."

The drop-in event will take place between 11am - 7pm at the Civil Hall in Totnes on Saturday, 16 April.
