ArcelorMittal Orbit Tower Slide To Open In London

The world's tallest and longest tunnel slide is due to open next week in London.

The structure at the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower will be unveiled at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Friday, 24 June.

The slide, which is 178 metres long and 76 metres high, is made from 800mm diameter by 3mm thick stainless steel tubes that make up 30 sections in total.

Mace was appointed project manager by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) in February 2015.

Derry Power, Mace Project Manager, said: "This iconic project is not only going to provide another fun destination for the local community and visitors at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, but shows great collaboration between artists, designers, engineers, project managers and specialist contractors.

"The collaborative project team has worked tirelessly to design, develop and install a slide which will symbolise a lasting legacy at the park for years to come."
