House builder Redrow has been selected to deliver new homes on a major residential scheme in Cambridgeshire.

Urban&Civic has appointed the company to build out 200 plots at Alconbury Weald over a 16.6-acre area of land.

Hopkins Homes are currently on site developing the first of two plot parcels, while Morris Homes will begin the second in September 2016. Redrow is expected to start construction in early Autumn.

Overall, Urban&Civic has contracted on almost 500 plots across 41 developable acres at the site, with full infrastructure all the way down to tree planting.

The developer added 29 private housing reservations have been taken by Hopkins since coming on site in mid-April.

Nigel Hugill, CEO of Urban&Civic, said: "Redrow are reputed for the quality of their housing offer. The fact that they are prepared to complete arrangements at the current time is both a reflection of our shared aspirations for Alconbury and the strength of the Urban&Civic licence model."

John Mann, Managing Director of Redrow Homes, added: "We plan to build a mix of three, four and five-bedroom homes inspired by our Heritage Collection, which will complement and enhance the existing offering."
