Keepmoat To Build New Housing Development In Northampton

Construction firm Keepmoat has been selected to build a new multi-million pound development in Northampton.

The housing scheme for older people, which will be built on the site of the former Lakeview House care home on Churchill Avenue, will feature at least 45 apartments for affordable rent, along with communal lounges and gardens.

The design of the new development is to be decided through a design competition which will see architects submit their proposals for the scheme.

Geoff Prior, Executive Director of Property Services at Northampton Partnership Homes, said: "We're committed to improving our existing properties as well as building new homes to meet the growing housing need in Northampton.

"We've listened to local residents, our tenants and partners with this scheme in mind. The Lakeview site has been vacant since 2009 while demand for Older Persons housing in Northampton remains high.

"This scheme will provide new homes with modern support services that will meet the needs of older people in Northampton now and in the future."

Work is due to start in May 2017.
