PHE To Unveil Plans For £400m Essex Science Hub

Plans are to be revealed for a new £400 million science hub in Essex.

Public Health England (PHE) will unveil proposals for the multi-million pound development at Harlow through a series of exhibitions beginning in October.

The organisation is planning to redevelop the vacant GSK site at the New Frontiers Science Park to create a new facility for research, health improvement and protection. An earlier exhibition detailing outline proposals was held in May.

The exhibitions will include details about employment opportunities and the development of an apprenticeships scheme.

PHE Chief Executive, Duncan Selbie, said: "We have carried out a comprehensive programme of engagement events to ensure we reach all corners of the Harlow community. It is important for people to give us their thoughts and ideas so we can understand how they feel towards the Science Hub.

"The plans have changed from the first exhibition based a great deal on the feedback we have received."

The exhibitions will be held at Science Alive at Harlow Leisurezone from:

• 3pm – 8pm on Thursday, 06 October

• 3pm – 8pm on Friday, 07 October

• 10am – 2pm on Saturday, 08 October
