Plans Submitted For New West Cumbria Housing Development
Story Homes has submitted plans to build 69 new properties in west Cumbria.
The company is proposing to build a mix of affordable and private sale homes on land to the north east of Seaton Village.
The plans include developing associated infrastructure at the site, creating a new public open space for the community and using local contractors and suppliers, where possible, to deliver the scheme.
If successful, the New Homes Bonus of circa £500,000 will be reinvested in local services over a six-year period.
Adam McNally, Development Planner for Story Homes, said: "We have taken on board residents comments for bungalows and introduced attractive swathe of open space to the east of the site to help assimilate the development to the open countryside beyond. These decisions have reduced the number of homes on the development to 69.
"We have responded to surface water drainage concerns in the village by proposing a SUDS pond that will be sized larger than regulation requirements which will improve the existing drainage in the area, and reduce existing flood risk to properties downstream on Ling Beck.
"With regards to the former mineworkings, a detailed site investigation has been carried out and a full remediation plan has been designed. Residents can be assured that this will make safe the mineworkings.
"All being well we would look to start work on site in May 2017 with the first home completed by Christmas 2017."
