55% Of Landlords Fear Negative Impact Of Brexit

Nearly 40% of Scottish landlords believe Brexit will have a negative impact on their business.

New research by the National Landlords Association reveals 39% of landlords in Scotland are worried leaving the EU will impact on their ability to attract tenants in the future.

In central London, more than half (55%) believe Brexit will have a negative impact, while just over a fifth in the North East (22%) share the same concerns, the lowest proportion compared to other UK regions.

Across the UK, more than a third (35%) of landlords are worried about Brexit's impact.

Richard Blanco, London representative for the NLA, said: "These findings clearly show that a significant proportion of landlords are concerned about what Brexit will mean for their lettings business so we wanted to try to understand and make sense of the situation.

"We now know that Article 50 will be triggered soon, but landlords still have lots of questions, like what will happen to rental demand as a consequence of Brexit, will house prices fall, or should I rethink my investment strategy?"
