Wates To Upgrade Palace Of Westminster Fire Safety Systems
Wates has won a contract to install new fire detection systems at the Palace of Westminster.
Designed by IFC in conjunction with Purcells Conservation Architects, the 13-phase programme involves upgrading automatic fire detection and alarm systems alongside modifications to the emergency lighting and fire escape signage.
The Life Safety Systems upgrade project will be delivered over the course of four years and brings Wates' London-based heritage deals to a combined value of £145 million.
The company's current portfolio includes the refurbishment of the Metropolitan Police Service's 1930s Grade II listed Hammersmith Police Station and the Victoria & Albert Museum extension at Exhibition Road.
